When to begin?
The process of becoming a student-athlete can be long and complex. From your initial application to signing your scholarship agreement (NLI) can take anywhere between 6-24 months depending on your sport and ability level. Most US College coaches recruit players 1-2 years prior to them joining the squad so in general, we would advise you to begin the process 1 year before graduating high school.
STEP 1
Get to know each other
After completing our non-binding registration form we will make an appointment free of charge in which we explain the process and identify your needs and wishes. Before we start, we will always give you a clear picture of what you can expect in terms of academics, athletics and costs.
STEP 2
Start with Made
Once you have decided to partner with us to become a student-athlete, we will collect your academic and athletic highlights to create a personal profile. Together with our edited college recruiting video, optimized based on what coaches are looking for, you will be displayed on our website.
STEP 3
Introduction to coaches
We give you optimal visibility amongst all the college coaches that fit your needs. In addition to our (personal) relationships, we have the ability to send out a customer player profile to ALL coaches as well as visibility on our website.
STEP 4
Take the standardized tests
Depending on your academic background there are certain tests that you need to take. The most well-known are the SAT, ACT, and TOEFL but it depends on your specific situation what (and if) you need to take the tests. In addition to providing our players with the study material we also have a partnership with a tutoring company.
STEP 5
Find the right fit
We arm you with information and guidance to be able to choose the college that is best for you. Throughout the process, we prepare you for conversations with coaches, provide a summary of schools that are interested in you and make recommendations based on academics, athletics, campus life, our experience, etc. In many situations, we can even arrange official visits so that you can meet the coach in person and see the campus.
STEP 6
Sign the contract and apply to the university
After you find the right match, you will receive the scholarship contract and we will check if everything is written as promised. We will then provide you with a personalized, clear roadmap of everything you need to do to apply. Every student athlete’s situation is different, so we adapt this based on your needs. This includes amongst other things guidance and support with transcripts, letters of recommendation, housing, insurance, financial papers, immunizations, etc.
STEP 7
Visa application
Once you have been accepted to the university, you can now apply for an F-1 student visa. In order to receive your visa, you will need to fill out several forms (i.a. SEVIS and DS-160) online and schedule an appointment at the embassy. We will be there to support you and we will make sure that you are ready for the interview at the embassy.
STEP 8
Pack your bags!
Once you have received your student visa you are ready for your journey. We will provide you with useful tips about packing, booking flights, cellphone, banking, etc. Please also note that our service does not end when a you go to your university. We are there for guidance and support throughout the entire college career and can help with a school transfer if needed.
