This week Alexandra tells us all about her experience playing tennis at Cumberland University:
“I just started my junior year as a math major, and so far I absolutely love it here in the USA. When I first arrived as a freshman I was very nervous because I didn‘t know anyone and I’d never been to the US before, so everything was totally new and the culture shock was real. Nevertheless, I started off great, making a lot of new friends from all over the world thanks to our very international student body here. I actually even learned Spanish, because everyone speaks Spanish.
From a tennis perspective, this experience is amazing! The practices are more intense than the ones I was used to back home, and the (pretty) chill class schedule allowed me to make a lot of progress on the court and in the weights room. What I love the most about tennis here at CU is playing doubles, which I never really played before coming to college. Off the court, I believe I‘ve grown personally over these two years. I became really involved on campus as a tutor. I am also president of the International Student Organization, which allows me to form new relationships every day.
Overall, I have collected so many beautiful memories, and I would highly recommend playing a sport for a college if you have the opportunity to do so!
