Personal Information

Zonne van Anraad (born in 2007) lives with her parents and 2 brothers in Houten, the Netherlands. She comes from a real athletic family, her brothers play soccer and her niece studies and plays field hockey in America. Zonne is an ambitious, sporting, helpful, and competitive person, who has loved sports since she was little. In addition to volleyball, she played multiple sports like korfbal, and gymnastics. She is a good skier as well.

Zonne likes to do a lot of fun things with family and friends, she is a very social person who makes friends quickly. As a coach of a C-youth team, she has participated in many different tournaments with younger and older teams, including international tournaments. In addition to volleyball, she works in a clothing store as a saleswoman.

Currently, Zonne is in her senior year of high school (HAVO level) and is expected to graduate in June 2025. Her favorite subjects are Exercise Sports & Society (a special subject at her school where you learn how to teach, organize, and get to know different sports), and chemistry. Her other subjects are Mathematics, Dutch, English, Biology, Geography, Physical education, and Culture & Art. Zonne achieved a score of 950 on the SAT and 85 on the TOEFL.

Athletic Information

Zonne started playing volleyball for her club, Taurus, at eight years old. During her junior career, she has always played one age group higher at the highest level in the Netherlands.

She is a 6ft outside hitter whose strongest points are attacking, diving, jump serve, tactical insight, and positivity. She is a dedicated team player who works hard and aims to learn and improve daily.

Furthermore, she is a charismatic leader who listens to her teammates and is very coachable. Zonne has participated in many international tournaments like dynamo and UWG. She won the HTJ tournament with her team. Zonne has become champion in the regular competition almost every season. She is also competing in beach volleyball, winning many tournaments under 17 or in the third division.

In addition, she has a big shot selection, which she has further expanded during her time playing beach volleyball. Her serves are also excellent, resulting in aces or pushing the other teams out of system.

Zonne currently plays for the first U-18 team in the highest junior division of the Netherlands (topklasse) and she also plays for the 2nd women's team that competes in the Promotieklasse. This season, Zonne has been selected for the "Pre jeugd" program, a crucial stepping stone towards the national junior team, organized by the national volleyball federation. The program is exclusively for the region’s most talented young volleyball players who are not yet eligible for the national youth team. Participants practice together weekly, alongside their regular club sessions, to refine their skills in optimal conditions. This setup allows national team coaches to closely monitor their progress and potentially invite them to join the national youth team in the future.
