Athletic Information

Matthias primarily plays catcher and outfield, with catcher being his main position. One of his biggest strengths is his baseball IQ and understanding of the game. He has a strong awareness of game situations and enjoys being actively involved in what is happening on the field. He believes his ability to read the game, recognize situations, and make the right decisions is one of the qualities he brings to his team.

Baseball has become a major part of Matthias' life from a very early age. From the age of 11, Matthias has competed at the highest level of youth baseball in the Netherlands. During his development, he has gained international experience at tournaments including the Pony League in Prague, the Palomino Tournament in Stuttgart, and Baseball in Paradise in Aruba. He also travelled to Miami with a travel team, competing against American high school teams. Playing against different opponents and in different baseball environments has helped him develop both on and off the field.

One of the biggest milestones in Matthias's development came in 2024, when he made his debut in the Dutch Men’s First Division at just 16 years old. As the second-highest level of baseball in the Netherlands, this was an important step in his athletic career and the result of many years of training, competition, and dedication to the sport.

Baseball has taught Matthias the importance of discipline, teamwork, resilience, and staying composed under pressure. His experience at both the national and international level continues to motivate him to improve and take on new challenges as he looks to continue his baseball career at the next level.
