NAIA VS NCAA: what is the difference?

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is oftentimes the most known by many aspiring college athlete students but it is also possible that you might have heard of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). They both have the same goal: Supporting athlete-student throughout their journey during their studies. While NAIA is a smaller association compared to the NCAA, it can be a great option depending on the criteria you’re meeting for your eligibility. It is possible to start in the NAIA and then transfer after a few years to the NCAA. Our swimmer Mendy de Rooi for example competed for Cumberland University in the NAIA and she pursued a master’s degree at Duquesne University in NCAA division 1.
