Study and play volleyball in America – combine sports and study

Want to combine your passion for volleyball with a world-class degree? Nowhere else is college volleyball as big and spectacular as in the USA. You’ll play in an electric atmosphere, train in professional facilities, and be treated like an elite athlete. Whether you dream of playing indoor or on the sand, there are numerous opportunities for motivated players at every level.

On top of everything else, student-athletes learn to work and thrive in a team environment, which alters and shapes them into well-rounded, unselfish, team-oriented, and driven individuals. These qualities will help you be successful, whether on or off the court.

How does a volleyball scholarship work?

Most universities that offer college volleyball are women’s programs (1600), while there are also a few men’s programs (175). With this many universities offering volleyball, there is a place for every level. Coaches will evaluate you based on your position (setter, outside hitter, middle blocker, libero), your height, your vertical jump, and of course, your highlight video.

The foundation is the athletic scholarship, which can cover up to the full cost of attendance (‘full ride’). This is often combined with:

  • Academic Scholarships: For strong grades (GPA) and test scores (SAT/ACT).
  • International Student Aid: Special funds that universities have for non-US students.

‘Stacking’ these scholarships to create the best financial package is a complex puzzle. This is where our expertise makes all the difference.

Travel through America & battle for the championship

Your season is an adventure where you play in a regional conference against other universities. But the experience goes much further than just the games:

  • Travel as a team: You’ll travel with your teammates, who quickly become your best friends, throughout the region—and sometimes even the entire country. This means not only playing volleyball but also discovering the diversity of America, from long bus rides filled with music and camaraderie to flights for important away games.
  • The dream of the Nationals: The ultimate goal of the season is qualifying for the conference tournament and then The Nationals: the nationwide knockout tournament. Here, the best teams from across the US compete for the coveted National Championship. This is the ultimate on-stage experience where dreams become reality.

Overview of an academic year

Showtime! – You will officially begin with a 2-3 week pre-season in which you work intensively with your team on the pitch to prepare for the upcoming season. During the season, you practice almost every day of the week and play 1 to 2 games per week. If your team has done well in the Regular Season, it can qualify for “post-season competition” and continues in tournament mode until the National Championship played in December.

The spring semester (often referred to as off-season) is used to prepare intensively for the coming Fall season. In addition to daily workouts, tournaments and friendly matches are on the schedule.

Most universities have their Christmas break from mid-December to mid-January. It is therefore possible to go back home and spend quality time with family and friends for almost a month.

Summer break – There is a possibility to stay in The USA and take summer classes or work in camps. Most students decide to go back to their families to enjoy the 2.5-month break to rest and individual preparation for pre-season.
