Personal and academic information

Naufal was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 10, 2001. He is a very athletic individual who is extremely passionate about tennis.

Naufal currently finishing up his high school and is expected to graduate in March 2019. His major includes study of English, Science, Mathematics and History. He took his SAT early (May 2018) and achieved a combined score of 1050. He is scheduled to take the TOEFL in March 2019.

Athletic Information

Naufal started tennis when he follow his father to play as early as 4 years old. Starting with 8 hours training per week when he was 6 years old until 20 hours per week when he was 13 until now. He played Main Draw Junior Orange Bowl in Florida when he was 12 and 14 years old.

He was in Club Med academy in Florida for 2 years from 2014 and 2015 under the supervision of world renowned coach Gabe Jaramillo. He finished his ranking as Malaysia junior #1 for 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U

He represented Malaysia twice for Junior Davis Cup tournaments in New Delhi in 2016 and 2017. He has been considered a late bloomer as he grew up slow during his early teenage years. Right now especially this year, his strength has increased tremendously with his serve and forehand. 

Currently he is preparing for Davis Cup team that will be played in Qatar tentatively April 2019 and while doing that he is entering some ITF Junior, ITF Future and National events. He maintains his physical strength by working out 5 hours a week for gym, conditioning and fitness training. His type of game is counter puncher that is suitable with his ability and forehand winner is typically will be his weapon.

  • 6-1 6-3 win over Jian Keong Takeshi Koey (UTR 11.93) in January 2019
  • 3-6 4-6 loss to Philip Sekulic (UTR 11.90) in August 2018
  • 6-3 6-4 win over Joseph Gabriel Tiamson (UTR 11.22) in July 2018
  • 4–6 2–6 loss to Thantub Suksumrarn (UTR 13.24)in April 2018
  • 6-2 7-6 win over Daisuke Inagawa (UTR 11.68) in March 2018
