Personal information

Niroel Kanhai is a social 18-year old midfielder from Amstelveen, The Netherlands. Besides his biggest passion soccer, Niroel loves to play chess (he is the former youth champion of Amsterdam, he has also played internationally against England), tennis, boxing and travelling abroad

He has a strong personality and his excellent communication skills and ability to motivate others demonstrate this.

Niroel is expected to graduate high school (VWO level) in June 2019. He achieved a combined score of 1120 on his SAT and is scheduled to take his TOEFL test in December of 2018.

It is his dream to pursue a bachelor degree while playing soccer at the highest level in the USA.

Athletic information

Niroel started his soccer career at the age of 8 at S.V. RAP in Amsterdam, where he played at the national level.

Niroel is a very talented left footed midfielder who can also play defense. He has outstanding technical skills, great passing and excellent footwork. He is a real team player and is the person who takes the free kicks. During his junior career Niroel played in the highest junior teams at the national level and was selected to play for the regional team of Utrecht.

His talent was then recognized by FC Volendam (a dutch professional soccer club) he transferred there in the summer of 2015. At FC Volendam he played as a midfielder at the highest junior level of the Netherlands, the Eredivisie. In this league he played against most junior teams of professional soccer clubs like Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord and AZ. This is where he further developed his technical and leadership skills.

In August of 2017 Niroel transferred to AFC Amsterdam. The academy of AFC is well known for developing junior talent and they play against other top professional academy’s.This season Niroel plays as both a midfielder and a left central defender in the U19 team at AFC in Amsterdam (2nd National Division).

In addition to his normal training schedule, Niroel trains individually with Nordin Wooter (an Ajax veteran who has had several Champions League appearances) since 2013 and has been under the guidance of the physiotherapists of “Veel beter” physiotherapy, to help him with his physical strength.
