Personal and academic information

 

Vaibhav is a smart, outgoing and highly competitive 17-year-old tennis player from India. He was born and raised in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and currently trains at Delhi.

 

Besides being an excellent athlete, he also excels in his academics. He is consistently among the toppers of his class. Presently a scholar of class 12th, he has also been the school topper in the various Olympiads of science and mathematics held by SOF and also achieved 2nd rank internationally in ICO. He is scheduled to take both the SAT as well as TOEFL in Fall of 2019.

 

It is Vaibhav's dream to play college tennis in the fall of 2020. 

 

Athletic Information:

 

Vaibhav started playing tennis at the age of 9 and has been extremely passionate about it ever since. During his junior career Vaibhav represented his state in junior segment at the "All India Inter State National Juniors' Team Tennis Championship 2013. In addition he has won a number of national level tournaments held by the All India Tennis Association (AITA), both in singles and doubles. 

 

He has also won State Championships and has consistently been ranked the top junior of his state. His best national ranking in the junior segment was 17. He was also selected for his state's U-19 team for SGFI Nationals and has won Inter-School Championships in U-17 and U-19 categories. His highest UTR has been 10.73 and he currently he holds a UTR of 10.26. 

Vaibhav has been selected for his State's Men's team to represent at "All India Inter State National Men’s’ Team Tennis Championship 2019"

 

Vaibhav's main weapon is his fast and accurate serve. He also possesses a strong and powerful forehand with an equally solid two-handed backhand. He likes to play from the baseline but also regularly goes to the net when he gets the change. He has a strong, athletic built along with great footwork. 

 

Vaibhav trains for 15-16 hours a week with dedication, which includes both tennis and physical training. In addition to this, he also regularly practices yoga & meditation.

  • 6-2 7-6 win over Maanav Jain (UTR 9.87) ITF Grade-5, 2019
  • 6-4 3-6 1-6 loss to  Fardeen Qamar (UTR 11.56) AITA Men’s, 2019
