Personal and Academic Information


Selina is a nineteen-year-old girl who lives in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, together with her mother and two dogs. Selina is raised to be independent and she is very organized.  She is a dedicated person that tries to get the best out of herself at everything she does. In addition to volleyball, Selina loves to write and to be creative In her spare time.


Selina graduated from high school at the second highest level (HAVO) in June 2016. After taking a gap year she enrolled at Columbia College in Missouri in the fall of 2017. At Columbia college, Selina has excelled in the classroom and has been inducted in the freshman honor society Alpha Lambda Delta and the National Honor Society. At the end of this Spring, Selina will have obtained 63 credits with an expected GPA of 3.7. She has a double major (Sport management and business administration) with a minor in Management Information Systems.


Not only does Selina put effort in academics she is also involved into a variety of clubs on campus: Volunteer Club, American Marketing Club, International Club, Honor Association Club. 


Athletic Information


In the two years Selina has spent at Columbia she improved in how to perform under a lot of pressure.In her freshman year Selina appeared in 95 matches and helped her team win the regular conference and secured a bit to the National Championship. This year she helped her team win the American Midwest Conference Championship and secured again a bit to the National Championship reaching the final where they lost in a heartbreaking 5th set.


Selina is a 5ÔÇÖ9 setter that can jump very high.She has a very strong block and if she gets the opportunity to attack in a match it is a strong one. She is also known for how fast she is and she can always give a overhand set. One of the biggest benefits is that she can adjust very quick when it comes to changing positions.In addition to being a setter, she has also been used as a Defensive and Serving Specialist at her time at Columbia College


During her junior career she took part in the Dutch National Youth Championships for the last 5 years and became national champion. Before enrolling in to Columbia College she made her debute for the first womens team that plays in the highest womens league in The Netherlands (Eredivisie).
