Athletic Information

Ruth started playing volleyball for VV Zaanstad at the age of 6 and soon her talents were recognized. During her junior career Ruth won 6 junior championships (including the Dutch national junior Championship in 2010) and 1 senior championship.

From 2008-2012 Ruth was selected for the National Youth selection (NVS) and she received a talent grade of the Dutch National Volleyball Federation. At the age of 12 she started to play in the women’s league in addition to her junior team.

After 11 years of playing for VV Zaanstad, she made the transfer to a bigger club US Amsterdam that plays at a higher level. In the season 2016/2017 Ruth played at the 2nd highest womens level in The Netherlands and became 3rd. In that same season she and her team reached the semi-finals in the National Cup and beat two teams of the highest league in order to get there. Last season she and her team reached promotion to the highest women's level in The Netherlands (eredivise) in which they will play this season.
