Personal and academic information

 

Elodie Baechler is a seventeen-year-old girl who grew up in Nyon, Switzerland together with her parents and brother. In addition to tennis she swam competitively but eventually chose to focus on tennis when she started playing more tournaments.She is a calm and independent individualwho loves playing piano and spending time with her friends.

 

Elodie is in her senior year of high school and is expected to graduate in June 2021. She is in a sports-school structure, which allows her to go to school in the morning and to be able to train in the afternoon. Elodie is scheduled to take both SAT and TOEFL in the fall of 2020. 

 

Since tennis is her passion, she would love to be able to continue to play competitive while attending university in the USA. 

 

Athletic information

 

Elodie started playing tennis at the age of 6. During her junior career she became 5-time champion of her region (canton Vaud) in singles in her age category and 2-time champion in doubles. She achieved a national title for the U12 interclubs championships, and has consistently qualified for the national Swiss championships with solid results (3 times 1/8 finalist in singles (2015, 2017, 2019) and was once a semi-finalist in doubles (2017)). She has also played Tennis Europe competitions and ITF Junior competitions. In the spring, she loves to play interclubs competition (singles and doubles). She is currently ranked 147 in the Swiss open national womens ranking and holds a UTR of 8.00.

 

Elodie is an aggressive baseline player who loves to dominate the point and put pressure on her opponent, especially with her backhand. She has great footwork, which allows her to have a solid defense. Elodie is always motivated to improve her skills, which makes her a quick learner. She is very perseverant and does not give up when she encounters difficulties.

 

Even though her tournament schedule is mostly singles, she also loves to play doubles when she gets the chance. Elodie practices 8 hours of tennis and 3 hours of physical condition per week in addition to her weekend competitions.
