Personal and academic information

Thomas Bakker is a 20-year old student who grew up with his parents and brother in the rural town Mijnsheerenland, The Netherlands. Thomas is a clever and social individual with an enormous passion for tennis. Sports have always been a big part of his life and besides tennis he also played soccer at a competitive level until the age of 13.

In June 2018, Thomas graduated from high school at the highest Dutch level (VWO) and then followed a one-year-course at the KNLTB (Royal Dutch tennis association) in Houten to become a tennis coach. After obtaining is coaching license, he currently works as a tennis coach as he teaches at 3 clubs in the Breda region. He is scheduled to take the SAT and TOEFL test in Spring 2020.

Thomas is hoping to pursue a business degree and play college tennis in the United States of America in Fall of 2020.

Athletic information

At age 10 Thomas started to play tennis in his hometown, Mijnsheerenland, and he quickly got selected to play in his regional performance team. He started playing more frequently as well training as matches.In 2017 he moved to BLTV in Breda (one of the biggest tennis clubs in the area) in order to be able to play on a much more competitive and challenging level. During his gap year thomas trained on court at least 5 times a week to further enhance his tennis skills.

Throughout the year Thomas also plays various (national) tournaments in doubles as well as singles and in the spring he loves to play club competition. Thomas has proven himself to be a real team player both on and off court.

Thomas is an aggressive baseliner who likes to take control during rally’s. His main weapons are his forehand and strong serve. He likes to come to the net to finish the point when the right opportunity comes along. When being pressured during a point Thomas’ outstanding footwork and speed help him to cover almost the entire court and get back in control of the rally.

Thomas has a current UTR of 9.48 and his highest UTR was 9.55
