Personal and academic information

Max is a 20-year-old boy who is born and raised in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. He is very passionate about tennis and besides playing tennis he likes to watch and visit the ATP-tour around the world. 

Max graduated high school at the highest level in the Netherlands (VWO) in June 2018. He is scheduled to take the TOEFL and SAT test in fall of 2018. 

It is his dream to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the USA while being able to exercise his passion; tennis.

Athletic information

Max started playing tennis at the age of 4 and during his junior career he also played field hockey at top level. Max took a break from tennis when he turned 14 because he could not combine it with field hockey anymore but at the age of 17 he decided to fully focus on tennis again.

Since then he has been working hard to climb the rankings and raise his level and he is growing every year. He achieved a ranking of 256 in the men’s open national rankings in his first summer playing national men’s open ranking tournaments. In addition he won 2 singles and 2 doubles titles this year. Max belongs to the best 16 players of his category for 3 years in a row in the district Utrecht. This year he's ranked #4 and ready to compete for the District Masters title. 

Max is a baseline player with solid groundstrokes who makes very few unforced errors. He has great footwork, excellent stamina and likes to play long rallies. He generally likes to counterpunch against hard hitters but is also able to dictate the point with his aggressive spin forehand. Max also likes to use different strategies to offset his opponents by being patient, changing up tactics and using variety.

  • 6-3 6-4 win over Stan Martherus (North Carolina Wesleyan College, UTR 9.69) in August 2018
  • 6-2 2-6 6-7 loss to Storm van der Laak, National Dutch open ranking of 121 in Juli 2018
  • 7-6 6-4 win over Roan Valk, National Dutch open ranking of 330 in Juli 2018
  • 4-6 6-4 6-2 win over Sjoerd Nijssen, National Dutch open ranking of 201 in June 2018
  • 7-6 4-6 4-1 win over Rik Muller, National Dutch open ranking of 254 in June 2018
