Personal and academic information

Mick is a 17-year-old guy who grew up in the city of Amstelveen, the Netherlands. Mick is a very social and athletic guy and besides tennis he used to play sports like track & field, judo and soccer. When he doesn’t play tennis Mick likes to spend time with his friends and family, listening to music, exploring different cultures and in general broadening his horizon.

Mick is currently a senior in high school  ar the highest level of education in the Netherlands (VWO) and is expected to graduate in June 2019. He has been following the bilingual version of the VWO and this resulted in passing his Anglia English exams in 2016. He currently is following the IB bilingual course and is expected to pass it this year. He achieved a combined score of 1270 on the SAT test and is scheduled to take the TOEFL test in November of 2018.

Mick would love to continue his academic and athletic career in college, as he thinks that this would be the perfect combination and opportunity for him to develop as both a student and an athlete.

Athletic information

Mick started playing tennis at the age of 8 years old. During his junior career, Mick has successfully played junior and open tournaments. For the past seven years Mick has also been playing team club competition which he enjoys a lot. Currently, he is training with his coach Dennis van Scheppingen (former nr. 72 ATP player) in the Netherlands and plays tennis around 10 hours a week.

Mick is a 6’1 feet tall aggressive baseline player who likes to attack whenever he can. He has a solid backhand which he likes to use to setup a point in which he then attacks with his main weapon: the forehand. When the opportunity arises Mick likes to come to the net to finish the point. He has a powerful first serve, but he can also use his kick serve efficiently to set up his forehand. He also likes to think tactically when playing a match and his all round game allows him to switch up tactics when he notices that one works better than the other. In addition he is mentally tough, a hard worker in practice and never gives up.

Mick achieved his first open men’s national ranking and is currently ranked 293. He doesn’t have a UTR but based on his last results I estimate his UTR between 11.5 and 12.
