Personal and academic information


Ank Vullings is a 17-year-old girl who lives together with her parents and brother in Roermond, the Netherlands. She is a very loyal and trustworthy person. She can be described as a disciplined, structured, hard-working individual with a broad interest and a good sense of humor. She is very athletic and besides tennis she also played field hockey at a high national level till the age of 15.  


Ank is also a determined student who works hard to achieve her goals. Because of her discipline, she succeeds in combining her busy tennis schedule with school.


In addition of being a great athlete Ank also excels in the classroom. She is currently in her senior year of high school at the highest level of education in the Netherlands (Athenaeum/VWO) holding a 3.2 GPA and is expect to graduate in June 2017.


Her dream is to play college tennis and continue the combination of study and playing tennis at the best possible level at a university in America. She has lots of experience with playing for a team. She enjoys this tremendously and therefore she is highly motivated tot compete for a college team.


Athletic information


Tennis has been a passion for Ank ever since she started playing tennis at the age of 5. During her junior career, she successfully played the national junior circuits, open women’s tournaments and national team competition. In 2014 she chose to fully focus on tennis to improve her game and intensives’ her trainings program. Her performances, technically and mentally shows a fast improvement since then.


Ank is a right-handed aggressive baseline player with a strong forehand and solid single-handed backhand. She has a great variety of strokes, is very fast and maneuverable and is good in adapting her game when the situation requires. When the opportunity arises, she likes to come to the net to finish the point. In addition Ank has great footwork and is mentally very strong. Ank is also a good doubles player with a steady and efficient net game and she is a great team player.


She has played club competition for the last 10 years. This spring she is playing 2nd division at national level. Since 2 years she is also playing team competition in Germany, junior as well as women’s category.

Ank practices 12-15 hours tennis weekly,  runs one time per week and one time per week she does a outdoor boot camp workout. She is extremely fit and healthy.
