She is currently in her senior year of high school at the highest level of education in The Netherlands (VWO) and is expected to graduate in June 2017. She is following the LOOT system which gives athletes the possibility to train on top level next to their education. Jiva wants to continue the combination of studying and playing tennis on the best possible level at a university in the USA.

She achieved a combined score of 1080 on her SAT (470 R&L; 610 M) and a 86 on her TOEFL.

Athletic Information

Jiva started playing tennis at the age of 5. Throughout her junior career she played the national junior tournaments and has always been ranked top 10 nationally in her age group. In 2015 she reached the quarterfinals of the National Championships under 16. At the moment Jiva has a national open women’s ranking of 89 in singles and 73 doubles.

Jiva is a powerful left-handed player who likes to play aggressively from the baseline. Her biggest weapon is her forehand with which she dictates the points and puts pressure on her opponent. As she is a tall player, she is able to generate a lot of speed from the baseline and when the opportunity is there she likes to go to the net. In addition, she also has a good feel for the ball and can make short angles cross court.
