Personal and Academic Information

 

Tim is a seventeen year old boy who grew up in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. In addition to his tennis talents Tim is also a very good student holding a 3.5 GPA at the highest level of education (VWO Gymnasium) in The Netherlands. He is currently a senior in high school and is expected to graduate in June 2014. He is scheduled to take his ACT in April and his TOEFL test Februari of 2014. 

 

Tim sees college tennis as a great opportunity to combine an excellent study with his passion for tennis. 

 

Athletic Information

 

Tim started playing tennis at the age of 8 and soon his talents were recognized. During his junior career he played national junior tournaments (won a K4 in Leeuwarden) and reached a top 40 position in the national junior rankings. In addition he played international tournaments as well on the tennis Europe tour. Tim currently holds an open Dutch national singles ranking of 330.

 

Tim is a hard worker with a huge fighting spirit. He is really dedicated to tennis and he is very eager to improve his game (just as his schoolwork). One of his best qualities is counterattacking, but he is getting better and better playing aggressive as well. Tim normally plays from the baseline, but he also likes to come to the net during a point. 

 

Tim has always been playing club competition in a team and he is used to go to tournaments with a group what makes him suited for college tennis. 

 

His best achievements are: 

 

  • Number 1 ranked player in Friesland under 14
  • Won the open Friesland masters (category 5)
  • Two times 4th place in a national tournament k3 Leeuwarden & Amsterdam
  • 1st place national tournament k4 Leeuwarden
  • Participation Nations Cup (at Sanchez-Casal, Barcelona)
  • Quarter Final: Tennis Europe u16 Doubles 
  • Two times second round Tennis Europe u16
