Personal and academic information

Timo has always been passionate for sports, playing football and tennis from a young age but focusing fully on tennis from the age of 12. He then moved from England to Switzerland, where he quickly adapted from hard court to clay.Timo is very motivated to continue playing tennis at a high level and to pursue his education.

His aspiration for playing college tennis in the US started at the age of 15 after joining a summer camp in the Northeast, where he played tennis and visited several universities.

His academic interest is natural science, especially chemistry and biology, as well as mathematics. He currently studies at the Lycée Denis-De-Rougement, the most recognized school in the region for natural science. Timo fluently speaks German, English and French.

He succesfully completed his SAT (1190 on CR and M combined) and he is scheduled to take the TOEFL in the Spring.

Athletic information

Timo's favorite shot is his backhand which he often uses to counterattack from the baseline. He also likes to use his lefty forehand to push players out of the court on their backhand side. He is known by his coaches and opponents as a tough fighter who can turn matches through perseverance and an intelligent match play.

Timo has participated in local and national championships (two 1/8 round appearances) as well as international junior tournaments.  He enjoys playing in team events such as the annual “interclub” where his team went up to League National B in 2013. His team can particularly benefit from him being a lefty in doubles.

Timo’s clay court season training starts early April with a two-week camp in the South of France to prepare for the outdoor season on clay. In October, he has another two-week camp indoors. During the winter season, he plays on carpet and hard courts.

For more than 10 years, Timo has been training approx. 4 times a week and played between 20 and 30 tournaments per year. He has always been ranked in the top 20 of his age group. Timo has got a lot of potential and will still significantly develop his game given his young age and the fact that he is a late bloomer. His ranking improved from 316 to his current open national swiss ranking 142 in 8 months and is continuing on this path.
