Aniek is a very positive-minded 16-years old girl who lives in Wassenaar, The Netherlands. She grew up with her parents and her older brother and she has been a sports fan ever since she was a little child. Besides playing tennis, Aniek played handball for several years which made her a real team player.
Aniek is an excellent student who is currently in her senior year in high school at the highest level (Gymnasium) in The Netherlands and is expected to graduate in June 2013 with a GPA of 3.6. Aniek is a very independent student who also did some extra academic activities.
Besides that, Aniek has always been very involved in her tennis club where she volunteers as president of the youth committee. Together with other people she organizes tournaments and other activities for the kids.
Aniek is looking to pursue a bachelor's degree in biomedical science.
The combination of playing tennis at a high level while studying abroad is a perfect opportunity for Aniek to get the best of both worlds.
Aniek has been playing tennis since she was 8 years old. During her junior career Aniek has won several open tournaments for juniors en seniors in singles and doubles. Due to these results, Aniek was invited twice to participate for the masters, the final tournament of the season for the best 8 players of her region.
Aniek is an aggressive baseline player with strong groundstrokes who uses her steady and powerful backhand as a weapon. In addition she has a good serve and she is mentally very strong. Aniek is a hard worker both on and off the court. She has been playing club competition with adults since she was 13-years old and as a result she developed her tactical skills especially for doubles play.
Aniek practices tennis three times a week and goes to the gym three times a week to follow her fitness program.
