Personal and Academic Information


Timo is a 17-years old boy that grew up together with his parents, sister and brother in Oegstgeest, The Netherlands. From a young age on Timo has had a big passion for tennis. Besides tennis he was also a talented soccer player. He is now in his last year of high school at the highest level in the Netherlands and is expected to graduate in June 2013. He wants to play college tennis in the USA, because it is a great opportunity for him to combine tennis and education at a high level. He is scheduled to take his ACT and TOEFL test in April 2013. After completing these exams he will be eligible to play collegiate tennis.
 
 

Athletic Information


Timo started to play tennis at the age of 6. Throughout his junior career he has always been ranked in the top 8 nationally in his age group and has been fully educated by the Dutch tennis federation (KNLTB). He played all the junior tournaments and reached in every age category (under 12, 14, and 16) the quarterfinals of the National Dutch Championships. At the moment with playing just a few tournaments he holds a national open ranking of 175 in singles and 150 in doubles.
 


Timo is a right handed all round player that plays an aggressive game with powerful groundstrokes. His biggest weapons are his serve and his backhand and when the opportunity arises he likes to come to the net. He can also play serve/volley what makes him a dangerous double player. His national doubles ranking (150) got obtained by playing  just one tournament and immediately reaching the final. 

At the moment he practices 17 hours a week, which includes 5 hours of physical training. One of his coaches is Michael van den Berg (ATP 300), who is the former coach of Aranxta Rus (WTA 73).
