Ires Tania is a 16-year-old soccer player from Zaandijk, The Netherlands. She grew up as the youngest in an athletic family, her father has been a semi-professional soccer player and can train professional soccer as an assistant trainer and her brother and sister also play soccer.


From primary school she has set herself the goal of becoming a professional soccer player. At the age of 11 she recieved the top sport status and was admitted to the Willem blaue college where excellent facilities are offered to combine study and top sport.

In her second year she was chosen out of all top sports talents to represent the Netherlands in St. Petersburg at the Football for Friendship tournament that takes place annually. Here she made many friends with whom she still has a lot of contact to date. She was even allowed to live with her American friend for a year. 


In 2020 Ires graduated her VMBO-T (Preparatory secondary vocational education) and is currently attending a MBO (Senior secondary vocational education). She is schedules to take her TOEFL in April and GED in May.


Ires would like to keep developing in soccer and also academically and it is her dream to be able to combine this in America. 


Athletic information:


At the age of 6, she started playing soccer at the club where her father once started,  Fortuna. At the age of 9 she went to Hercules, the club where she still plays today.


During her junior career she played with boys until the age of 13 and always at the highest team of her age group. From the age of 11 she also started to practice 4 times a week at the Telstar Academy and 2 times with Hercules. At the Telstar academy (that later turned into VV Alkmaar), she played exhibition matches and tournaments at the highest junior level in the Netherlands.

At the age of 13, she also played regularly with the 1st women's team, which was trained by her father. She currently trains twice a week with her own U-17 team and she trains once more with the ladies team and trains individually whenever she has the time.


Ires is a technical both legged forward who has great overview and a hard shot. She is quick, known for her actions and scores easily. She is a real team player with a winning mentality and she is very coachable.
