Athletic information

Bente started to play soccer at the age of 7 and already then she was determined to excel at it. From the age of 8 she started to play in the boy’s competition with a girls team. Bente started as a field player and gradually discovered she enjoyed goalkeeping as well. At the age of 10 she decided to become a goalkeeper and consistently worked on improving herself.

At age 13 she was selected to play for a boys team that played at the 2nd highest national level (2nd division). The head goal keeper coach of her club SC Buitenveldert (partner club of AJAX Amsterdam) initiated this. A year later she returned to the first girls U-15 squad still playing in the boy’s competition. In these years she was also pre-selected for the KNVB girls teams. Last year Bente played for the 1st U-17 girls team at SC Buitenveldert and after becoming the champion in the highest girls league in December, the team jointly decided with the coach to go back to the boys competition in Spring of 2020. This season Bente is the starting GK of the 1st U-19 girls team that competes at the highest amateur level in The netherlands. She is also expected to make her debut for the first womens team this season.

Bente is a quick and physically strong modern goalkeeper who can play along well with the defenders. One of her strong features are her coaching abilities and she has an accurate kick with both her right and left foot. In the fall of 2019 she and her team scored 50 goals and had to suffer only 5 goals against them. Both her team mates and the coaches praise Bente for her reliability as a goal keeper.

Bente trains 4 times a week and plays one game in the weekends. This includes also a personal training given by a specialised goal keeper school set up by former AJAX goal keepers and trainers. In addition she is doing extra power and cardio training in order to be as fit and strong as possible when coming to the US.
