Personal and academic information

 

Wessel is a 17-year-old boy who grew up with his parents and two older sisters in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. He is a hardworking, ambitious and social person who is very ambitious and is always looking for ways to develop himself into a better individual, athlete and student. 

 

Wessel is very familiar with the combination of a busy soccer and school schedule. Although he plays soccer 5/6 times a week he still manages to keep a good GPA in school. He is currently a senior in a high school and is expected to graduate in June 2017. After this he wants to pursue a business degree in the United States.

 

Wessel is scheduled to take the ACT and TOEFL in June 2017.

 

Athletic information

 

Wessel started playing soccer in Apeldoorn (Victoria Boys) at the age of 4. During his junior career Wessel was scouted by PEC Zwolle and trained with the regional talent team of the Dutch football association (KNVB). At the age of 14 he was selected to play for Go Ahead Eagles who’s first men’s team is playing in the highest league in The Netherlands. Wessel has played the last three years for Go Ahead Eagles in the U15, U17 and U19 teams.

 

This season, even though he is still able to play for the U17 team, Wessel is a starter for the U19 team. Because of his age he also played about 10 games in the U17 team.

 

Wessel is a physical strong modern goalkeeper who plays in front of his goal. He has outstanding reflects, is very strong in one on one situations and he has the personality to organise and coach his defenders. In possession he can be used as an extra field player and help with distributing the ball. He has developed a great kick, from the ground and dropkick/volley.
