Personal Information

Denzel Janga is a 17-year old water polo player from a small island in the Caribbean called, Curacao. With the body he has, he is often told that he should consider playing American football, rugby, or basketball. However, thanks to his family Denzel is devoted to water polo. Both his cousin and uncle were very successful in this sport and his uncle is now is the head coach of his team.

Athletic Information

Denzel started playing water polo at the age of 9. Since there was not much competition on the island, his team travelled a lot internationally to face tougher competition and to gain more experience. In the last two years Denzel developed into a very important and valuable player.

Denzel is a very devoted, rational person who has a good understanding of the game and plays with a lot of heart. Due to his size and strength he is perfect for the center forward position. Denzel practices 4 times a week and goes to the gym 2 times a week.

His most notable results of the past two years are:

  • Participated in the SISC, Cuba (2009)
  • Participated in the CAC(Central American Compitition) Mayaguez, Puerto Rico (2009)
  • Winner CISC 2010 U19(Caribbean Island Swimming Championship).
  • Participated in Puerto Rico for the CAC 20+ (Central American and Caribbean Games), in Miami for PANAM U19
  • Participated in the FINA Men's Water Polo Development Trophy 20+ in Dammam, Saudi Arabia (2011)

Academic Information

Denzel is attending the International School of Curacao (ISC) where attends an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. He  is currently in his senior year and will graduate in June of 2012. Denzel is thinking about pursuing an engineering degree. Denzel is taking the ACT and TOEFL in the fall of 2011 and will be eligible to compete at any collegiate league or level.
