Iris is an athletic girl who is passionate about hockey and has been playing hockey for almost ten years now. She lives in Zwolle, a regional historic city in the Netherlands, and plays for the ZMHC hockey club. Iris has already traveled quite a bit in her life and loves experiencing new cultures and communicating with all kinds of people.
Although Iris likes to play almost every ball sport, hockey is by far her favorite. She started playing hockey when she was seven years old and since then she has been on the field practicing her skills on a daily basis.
When she was ten years old, Iris was scouted for the District team, where she played for four years next to her own team in Hattem and Zwolle. With her team from ZMHC Zwolle, Iris competed at the highest regional level and won many tournaments at the national level, such as the National Championship for youth. In 2010, Iris and her team played at the highest national level (landelijk) and finished third of the Netherlands. Iris now plays for the first senior team of her club, which competes at the second highest competition level in the Netherlands (overgangsklasse senioren).
Iris is a dedicated team player whose favorite playing position is mid-mid. She has good overview and insight, and her technique very well developed. She controls the scoop and is constantly working on her drag flick. Overall, Iris is a well-rounded player with a competent level in all strokes.
Iris will graduate from high school in June 2012 at the highest academic level in the Netherland at the Van der Capellen scholengemeenschap high school in Zwolle. She is taking bilingual classes and will obtain her IB certificate in 2012. In addition to her high school courses, she has been tutoring mathematics to other students.
