Personal and academic information:

Britte is a 17-year-old field-hockey player from Almere, The Netherlands, who grew up in a loving and athletic family. She can be described as a caring, loving, straight-forward person who stands for what she beliefs. 

 

In addition to being very athletic she loves to travel, listen to music and be with her friends and family. She has a strong desire to explore and learn new things, from music, fashion to other cultures, psychology and physics. She also used to coach a junior field hockey team and she adores children

 

Britte graduated high school in June of 2020 (HAVO level) and her favorite classes were Spanish and history. She is currently in her freshman year at the university of Amsterdam majoring psychology with a focus on children from the age 0 to 23. She is scheduled to take the TOEFL test in spring 2021.

 

Athletic information 

 

Britte started playing hockey at one of the top field hockey clubs in the Netherlands (Almere) at the age of 5. During her junior career she always played in the highest teams of her age group playing the national level in The Netherlands. When Britte was 12 years old she was scouted to play at an even higher ranked field hockey club (Laren) and played there for two years. After that, her old field hockey club (Almere) asked her to come back and she decided to go back. In 2016 and 2017 she became national champion of the Netherlands and runner up in 2018. 

 

Britte is a very fast, skilled forward that can play the right, left and middle spots. She is known for her goals, assists, creating penalty corners, interceptions and tackle backs. Her key strengths are her scoring abilities  She is on the top of the “most goals” list from her league), speed (including very fast start speed) and technique with a precise back- and forehand-shots and tip-in. Britte trains 3 times a week with her team and goes to the gym 2 times a week and for a run every other day.

 

She is the first stopper for the offensive corner but is also used in multiple variations where she makes solo actions that result in goals. In the defensive penalty-corner she stands on the middle line and is the first to be back in the circle under 3 seconds to help with the defense.
