Personal and academic information

Frederique was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with her parents and two younger brothers. As soon as she could talk she started to call herself Kiki and so did the rest of the world. Kiki’s father was born in the US and as soon as the youngest kid was old enough the family started exploring different states. Kiki always said she’d love to study and live in the US when she is old enough.

Kiki comes from a very athletic family, all five play field hockey, tennis and love to sail and ski. In addition to her field hockey Kiki practiced gymnastics (was selected for regional team of Amsterdam) and she played in the mixed tennis competition team. In addition she has trained and coached junior teams.

She is a very happy, stable, sociable girl who loves to be with others and always keeps an eye on the group to make sure everybody has a good time. Both in her teams and in class she was selected as captain or class representative.

Kiki is a senior year in high school at the highest level (athenaeum). She is expected to graduate in the subjects Dutch, English, German, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, History, BSM (Health Sport and Society), Art and Culture, sociology and general natural sciences in June 2017. Her high school program contains also a special sports education education where she gets educated about all kinds of sports in combination with the development of competences that are important both in sports and in working with a team in general.

Athletic information

Kiki started her hockey career at HIC (Hockey Ignatius College) in Amstelveen at the age of 5. She is a multi functional central midfielder who can be used for multiple positions in the field. Kiki has a great pass, good overview/tactical skills and strong backhand. She is the hitter with the offensive penalty corner and a left post with a defensive penalty corner.

During her junior career Kiki always played for the first team in her age group but she also trained regularly with the first team of an age group higher. At the age of 12 she was also selected to participate in the district team which selects the best 16 players of the greater Amsterdam area. At the age of 16, Kiki transferred to another team in Amsterdam, Athena, with which she has played at a higher competition level. In addition she played several international games with her team against teams from Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Canada and England.

This season Kiki is part of the selection teams for the 1st and second Ladies team of Athena in the 1st division in the Netherlands. This exposes her to the physical aspects of the game played by adults.
