Tim is a 21-year-old athlete from Haaksbergen, The Netherlands. Tim is a very social person who loves to travel and likes to do things with other people. He is a very athletic guy and in addition to running he used to compete in survival events and play soccer.

 

Tim graduated the high school  (MBO level) in 2016. In 2016/2017 he took a gap year and traveled around the world for one year. It was a big eye opener for him, because he saw that not every country is similar to the Netherlands. He did volunteer work in Thailand as an English/sports teacher and did farm work in Australia. In the school year 2017/2018, Tim enrolled in a Dutch university majoring sport, health and management and successfully passed all of his classes.

 

In order to develop further as an athlete Tim is now looking to transfer to an American University in the spring of 2019. He is scheduled to take his TOEFL in October of 2018.

 

Athletic information


At the age of 11, Tim started running and became a member of the Track & Field club in his hometown. First, he competed in both  cross country and survival races and even though he was doing well in the survival races he preferred the cross country. It was when Tim started his first year of university that he quit the sport survival and fully focused on running. Since then, Tim has made major improvements and his times improved drastically. Last year improved his 5k time with 40 seconds and now runs 5k in 16:24 minutes and 8 kilometers in 27:46 minutes. 

 

Tim is scheduled to compete in a few races this fall and his coach expects him to run a 5 k in 16:15 minutes in December of this year. Tim is doing a running competition (6 races) this fall in his province, he is also doing several races in his region. The most of this races are 5 k cross country runs. He planned to do a race 2/3 times in a month

Personal and academic information

 

Denzel is a 18 year old boy who was born and raised in The Hague, The Netherlands. He grew up in a loving environment with his two parents and little brother. Sports have always played a big part in Denzel’s live and he played soccer and martial arts Tang Soo Do for numerous years.

 

In addition to being a great athlete, he’s also an outstanding student. After completing 2 grades in one single year in middle school he went on to pursue the highest level of high school in the Netherlands (VWO) while also following the IB-course. Denzel was selected to represent his school at Model UNESCO to debate about the preservation of world heritage. He was also selected to participate at the Global Student leader Summit.

 

Denzel graduated in June 2017 (including the English IB course) and took a gap year after that. He is currently enrolled as a freshman at the University of Amsterdam. Denzel achieved a combined score of 1320 on his SAT (R&L: 680; M: 640) and a 108 on his TOEFL tests.

 

Athletic Information

 

Denzel has been playing at the highest level for his age group in The Netherlands (Eredivisie) for the past four years. He was a part of the Dutch national team U15 and U18 preselections in 2015 and 2018 respectively and represented his country in the 2018 3x3 European Championship Qualifier in Szolnok, Hungary. In the 2016/2017 season Denzel became a national champion for the first time with Lokomotief Rijswijk in the under 18 division and in the 2017/2018 season he became national champions in both the U-18 and U-24 divisions with Apollo Amsterdam. He's currently part of the Apollo Amsterdam program, which has grown many great players before him. There he is playing for Apollo Amsterdam's Dutch Talent League team and with their men's team, which plays in the highest Dutch League, the Dutch Basketbal League (DBL).

 

Denzel plays the small-forward position but can also be used as shooting guard or power-forward when the situation requires and is able to lock down all 5 positions on the court. With his 6’7 ft lengt and whopping wingspan of 6’9 ft, he is sure to be noticed whenever he sets foot on the court. He has a great rebound and block and his aggressive defensive style often leads to steals and closely contested shots. Offensively, Denzel has a solid 3-point shot and is great at getting to the basket both on ball, as well as off the ball. 

 

Denzel brings a 110% to both games and practice and eagerly awaits tips, advice and criticism others have for him in order to make himself as well as his influence on the team the best it can be.

Personal and Academic information

Roxanne is a 20 year old girl who lives in a small town in Switzerland together with her mother and older brother. 

 

At the age of 16 Roxanne went to a private high school for elite athletes in Canada to play hockey and learn English for one year. Playing hockey every day and attending highschool classes has improved her hockey goalie skills, as well as helped her to become fluent in English. She also speaks some French and her mother tongue is Swiss-German. Roxanne is scheduled to take the TOEFL in May and the TOEFL shortly after.

 

It has always been her dream to study and play college hockey in the States and she has been working hard to reach her goal. 

 

Athletic Information

 

Roxanne started playing hockey at the age of seven and soon her talents were recognized. She is a goaltender who plays the butterfly-style and she shows good composure during high pressure situations. She is really well at reading the game and she tries never to give up on a shot. She is also a good at clearing the puck out of the zone.

 

During her junior career Roxanne played at the highest junior level for boys and girls teams. To follow her dreams, she went to Burlington, ON, in summer 2013 for one year as an international studen in the school’s Sports Training Program. Here she had two hours of hockey every day and she also played for the Halton Ravens’ Midget team in the Ontario Rep Hockey League. At the end of the year she received a varsity batch from Blyth Academy’s Advanced Sports Training Program and was awarded ”Most Improved Athlete“. 

 

Back in Switzerland she started playing for EHC Bülach’s U18 boys’ team. In addition Roxanne was also added to the extended roster of the Swiss Women’s National Team. In August of 2016 she joined the Swiss Women’s’ National Team  for the Mont Blanc Cup in Albertville, France where she played her first international game for Switzerland there.

 

She is currently playing for Bülach’s U20 boys’ team in the Elite Jr. B league. In order to get even more game experience as a goalie she also plays for a women’s team in the highest Swiss Women’s league (SWHLA). 

 

In Januari of 2016 Roxanne and her team made it to the semifinals of the Swiss Women’s Hockey Cup, losing to the winner Zurich Lions. She was awarded “Best Player” of that game.
