Reinier van Exel is a 16-year-old golf player from Doorn, the Netherlands. In addition to golf, Reinier is a top Field Hockey player in one of the best teams at the highest National level.

As a kid, he lived abroad and went to international schools and is therefore fuent in both English as well as Dutch. He is currently a senior in high school (Havo level) and is expected to graduate in June 2021. He is scheduled to take both TOEFL as well as SAT in Spring 2021.

Reinier now has a dream to go to the USA to become a toplevel golf player while obtaining his bachelor’s degree.

Athletic information:

Reinier hit his first golfbal on a driving range in Bangkok as a 4 year old and has been playing on and off since. Hockey was his focus though, training and playing 5 times a week.  Since his field hockey competition stopped due to Covid (October 2020), Reinier truly discovered golf and has been playing every day since.

In december 2020, Reinier started lessons and lowered his handicap from 36 to 14. His pro sees enormous potential in him and she is confident that Reinier will be able to shoot 75 by the end of Spring of 2021 (see testimonial in video).

At the moment there are wintergreens so qualifying cards have not been possible since January but he has dedicated himself to golf, with lessons twice a week and practicing every day. He knows everything about hard work and discipline from his field hockey career and he is currently dedicating his time to golf.

He sincerely hopes that even though he has only been playing for a very short time, you see potential in him and are willing to give him the opportunity to perform at college level.

Tim graduated the high school  (MBO level) in 2016. In 2016/2017 he took a gap year and traveled around the world for one year. It was a big eye opener for him, because he saw that not every country is similar to the Netherlands. He did volunteer work in Thailand as an English/sports teacher and did farm work in Australia. In the school year 2017/2018, Tim enrolled in a Dutch university majoring sport, health and management and successfully passed all of his classes.

Last year improved his 5k time with 40 seconds and now runs 5k in 16:24 minutes and 8 kilometers in 27:46 minutes.
